AI at the Service of Social Innovation: A Transformative Experience

On March 7, 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to give a talk at the “Mãos na Massa” event with the theme: “AI at the Service of Social Innovation“, organized by the Human Power Hub, in Braga. It was an enriching experience to be able to interact mainly with social entrepreneurs but also with impact organizations, to explore how Artificial Intelligence can revolutionize the social sector.

A Journey Through Time: The Before, the Now and the Future

During the session, we covered the evolution of technologies and visions of the future, both in terms of the productivity vision that was had in 2010 for 2020 and for AI in social innovation, analyzing its past applications, current impact and future possibilities. The discussion highlighted that AI is not just a tool for optimization, but a force for creating meaningful change in communities.

The Art of Prompt Optimization

One of the highlights of the talk was the hands-on experience in prompt optimization. Participants learned how to craft effective prompts, refining their approach to AI interactions to increase accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, we explore the creation of prompts with multiple response points, thus demonstrating how AI can be used for more dynamic and contextualized solutions on different topics.

Empowering Social Entrepreneurs with AI Strategies

The session provided practical insights into:

• How AI can optimize processes and decision-making in social organizations;
• Accessible tools to drive social innovation;
• Strategies to expand digital impact;
• Practical cases that demonstrate the transformative potential of AI.

A Memorable Learning Experience

The energy and enthusiasm of the participants made this event memorable. It was incredible to see the growing interest in AI and its application in the social sector as well as the amazement of some participants about what is already possible to be done with this technology. Each interaction and exchange of ideas reinforced the importance of empowering social entrepreneurs with knowledge and technological tools that can really make a difference.
