Artificial Intelligence is profoundly transforming the way we work, communicate, and make decisions. More than a technological trend, it has become a present reality in the daily lives of people, organizations, and society. However, the real challenge lies not only in the use of these tools, but in how we put them at the service of the common good.

It was precisely on this topic that I had the privilege of leading the session “Social Innovation in the Age of AI: Better Decisions, Greater Impact,” as part of the Hands-on initiative, promoted by the Human Power Hub in Braga.

First of all, I would like to say a very special thank you to Human Power Hub for the honorable invitation and for the trust placed in me to conduct this session. It was an enormous privilege to collaborate with an organization that has established itself as a reference space in promoting social innovation, training and the development of skills to respond to the challenges of the future.

Artificial Intelligence: far beyond technology

Throughout the session we reflected on the impact that Artificial Intelligence already has on our lives and on the responsibility we all have in its use.

AI has gone from being a futuristic vision to becoming integrated into countless decisions in our daily lives, from the recommendation systems we use on digital platforms to the tools that support healthcare professionals, companies, public institutions, and social organizations.

More important than understanding how these technologies work is understanding how they can be used ethically, transparently, and in a way that creates value for people.

This was precisely the main message of the session: Artificial Intelligence does not replace human impact; it amplifies it when used with knowledge, responsibility, and purpose.

Make better decisions to generate greater impact

During the training, we had the opportunity to explore various areas related to Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, promoting practical reflection on how these technologies can support more informed and effective decision-making processes.

Among the topics discussed, the following stood out:

• Generative Artificial Intelligence;
• AI-based decision support;
• Critical thinking in the use of smart tools;
• Ethics and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence;
• Digital transformation in organizations;
• social innovation;
• AI-powered enhanced creativity;
• Opportunities and challenges for professionals and institutions.

Rather than presenting platforms or applications, I sought to encourage participants to develop a critical view of technology, while simultaneously understanding its enormous potential for addressing complex social challenges.

Innovation begins with people.

One of the aspects that I tried to reinforce throughout the session was that true digital transformation never happens through technology alone.

It is the people who define objectives, interpret results, make decisions, and ensure that innovation is used ethically and responsibly.

In this context, Artificial Intelligence should be understood as a tool that enhances human capabilities and not as a substitute for critical thinking, creativity, or empathy.

When used consciously, AI can contribute to improving processes, increasing productivity, supporting more informed decisions, and creating innovative solutions with a positive impact on society.

A space for learning and sharing.

One of the most enriching aspects of this experience was the strong participation of those present.

Throughout the session, various questions arose, experiences were shared, and debates took place, demonstrating the growing interest in understanding the opportunities and challenges associated with Artificial Intelligence.

This collaborative environment allowed the training to be transformed into a true space for joint learning, where different perspectives contributed to enriching the discussion and bringing the technology closer to the reality experienced by each participant.

It is precisely this interaction that makes initiatives like Hands-on Cooking particularly relevant: creating opportunities to experiment, question, learn, and develop skills that will be essential in the future.

The Human Power Hub as a driver of social innovation

The Human Power Hub has been doing remarkable work in promoting social innovation, entrepreneurship, and the empowerment of people and organizations.

At a time when digital transformation is happening at an unprecedented pace, initiatives of this nature are taking on increasing importance as they promote digital literacy, critical thinking, and prepare communities for the challenges of emerging technologies.

It was a great pleasure to be able to contribute to this mission, sharing knowledge and experiences in an area that continues to evolve daily and that will play a key role in society in the coming years.

An experience that reinforces the commitment to AI literacy.

I return from this session with the reinforced conviction that Artificial Intelligence must be accompanied by an equally strong commitment to education, training, and empowering people.
